After the long pause in filming of Netflix’s The Witcher, the crew has been back on set. The production of season 2 is in full force for a whole month now. We haven’t had the chance to get a good look at the filming of the scenes and the crew; until now. We have fresh news about the filming of The Witcher Season 2, involving the sole princess of Cintra, Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon; better known as Ciri.
We have got our hands on pictures from a set not far from the headquarters at Arborfield Studios where the filming of The Witcher is going on and we saw 19 year old Freya Allan (the actress who plays Ciri) in a new and interesting costume. She was seen on October 1, 2020, on the set of the production of The Witcher Season 2 and here is what she looked like.
You are looking at the first ever photos of Ciri’s costume in the season 2 of The Witcher. The first season ended with Ciri and Gerald finally finding each other in a dense forest. We don’t have a lot of information about where the story of Ciri will go from there but it seems like the new costume in which Freya Allan has been seen on set is most probably her witcheress ‘uniform’. Her training in Kaer Morhen is likely what got her in the new outfit.
In the pictures, we saw two women right next to Ciri: a tall ash-blonde and a redhead. The tall woman with ash-blonde hair is probably an elf. Even though the women have not been fully identified, rumour has it that Lara Dorren, the elven sorceress is going to appear in this season so maybe the tall, blonde woman is Lara herself. And since Ciri is a descendant of Lara Dorren, what we saw might be an ongoing filming of a flashback sequence.
The probable Lara Dorren-like looking woman is seen wearing pointy elven ears, which further strengthens our beliefs. Check out the exclusive pictures displayed below and behold the legendary elven sorceress on the set of The Witcher Season 2.
As the story goes, Lara Dorren aeo Shiadhal was born to Shiadhal and Auberon Muircetach, who were both elves. Lara fell in love with a mighty human mage named Cregennan of Lod. Their relationship was, naturally, hugely criticised by both their races. Lara gave birth to their daughter and died soon after. The half elf child was left orphaned since Cregennan had died even before her birth. The then queen of Redania, Queen Cerro, adopted the child and she was given the name Riannon.
Hopefully our guesses about Lara are correct and we get a look at this interesting story arc.
We can’t really say who the second woman could be but she can be Queen Cerro herself. But this is just a vague presumption, so don’t hold on to this one.
In the pictures, you can also observe a tree which is burnt and destroyed, as if it was struck by lightning. This could be a portrayal of Ciri’s power. Since we haven’t seen a lot of Ciri’s capabilties and Ciri herself is unaware of her full strength, it is an exciting possibility that she could reveal more of her awesome strengths.
Stay tuned for more news about the ongoing production of The Witcher season 2.
These are all just guesses and we could very well be wrong. The only way to know for sure is to wait for the show runners to reveal a few details to keep the fan base engaged and hopefully a trailer that might drop early 2021.
Take a good look at all the pictures we have shown you here today and tell us in the comments about who the mysterious women could be and about the direction in which the plot might go.
